Hey Kelly, Got my motorcycle chaps yesterday - rode home from work and then did about a 60 mile ride. Very comfortable and great workmanship - Nice work! The fit is good and the leather, stitching and cuts are all 1st rate! Turning the yoke suede out worked well. I will send a picture later for your scrapbook. Thanks again for a great product it has been my pleasure to do business with you. Thom Wright, Park City, UT,  Western Regional Manager SoundTube Entertainment (07-25-06)

The words of a customer always carry more weight than our own:

Thank you B Bar B Wholesale for a perfect fitting pair of chaps of the highest quality manufacturing and finest leather I've ever seen!!  My first pair of chaps were cowboy style which I bought back in the mid 60's.  They wore out around 2007, (dry rot from being over in Asia for four years), and my next pair were crap at a price of $100 and fell apart two months ago.  Not only do your chaps feel good and keep me warm, they'll last me the rest of my life.......and then go to my son!!

A Happy Customer,

B Bar B is proud to offer this motorcycle chap design.  When you buy from us, you are buying directly from the manufacturer.  Our leather is a soft premium top grain naked finish (5.0 ounce) leather that is both good-looking, and durable.  It is dyed all the way through so that future scratches or abrasions won't be as noticeable.  The main leg body is one-piece without splices.  The one-piece main leg eliminates seams that can be weak points where the chap can come apart.  You will find that many imported chaps have a 3 or 4 piece main leg with the parts seamed together.  This eliminates material cost because smaller pieces can be used but it also adds many seams in high stress areas.  Material cost is the biggest cost factor in motorcycle chaps.

Our unique pattern is cut to provide fuller closure in the front and rear of the chaps.  Many chaps are "wide open" in the front and rear.

We use the best american made heavy duty brass zippers in our motorcycle chaps.  Brass zippers are the best longest lasting zippers because the brass zipper teeth last longer.  Most imported chaps use an aluminum zipper that has a much shorter life span, some use plastic or nylon which is an even lower quality level than aluminum.

Heavy nylon thread is used for all stitching in our chaps.  This is the best thread available.  Imported chaps will often use cotton thread.  Cotton thread is a very weak thread and will not handle the stress load of nylon threads.  This may not seem like an important issue but we get a multitude of imported chaps for repair at our retail store each year.  These are chaps that have been used very little and the seams have come apart.  After a few repair bills, the customers often wish they had spent more money on a better pair of chaps because after the added cost of repair bills, they ended up spending more money and still had a poor quality chap.

Leather is a very important consideration when buying chaps.  Our leather is some of the best available and will last a lifetime if treated properly.  Beware when buying imported chap.  We have repaired some that are actually made from a very low quality "split" leather that is painted on the surface to look like a top grain leather (see leather explanation in paragraph below).  You will find this with some of the very inexpensive imported chaps.  If you pull hard on the leather, it will actually pull apart.  The manufacturer of this type of leather does a very good job in making the leather appear to be a top grain leather.  We don't want to imply that all imported chaps are made poorly, there are some very nice imported chaps available but they are normally a higher priced import.  We've repaired tons of them so we've seen the worst and the best.  Always remember....You get what you pay for.

I will now explain "Split" leather and "top grain" leather.  When a cowhide is tanned, it is usually quite thick.  The tannery will "split" the leather into layers.  The top smooth layer is the best and strongest leather, it is called "top grain", it is smooth on the top side and roughout on the back side.  The lower layer or layers is "split" leather; this leather is roughout on both sides and is the weakest leather.  Split leather can still make a decent chap if it is in the 3 to 5 ounce range of thickness because there is still enough "meat" to bind together with strength.  Many imported chaps only use the very thin leather so that the seams aren't too bulky.  Thin split leather is very weak leather and shouldn't be used for a motorcycle chap.

You will find our motorcycle chap to be made from the best materials an one of the longest lasting and most durable chaps available.

Our chaps also feature a heavy 7-8 ounce black latigo leather front belt for long life and durability.  You will also find that they are a little more closed-in around the crotch area than most other chaps.   You will appreciate this extra coverage during cooler temperatures.  Our chap will offer years of service and protection at a very competitive price.

For additional cost, you may add conchos.  Custom sizes can be made if a standard size won't match your measurements.

The term "Made in the USA" can be controversial, but we have no controversy.  We make them from scratch right here in Blackfoot, Idaho.  We make the patterns here, cut the parts here, and completely build them here.  Because we make them in-house and here in the USA, our required production time is normally only 1-2 weeks for custom made orders.  This can vary somewhat depending on our current backlog of orders but if you give us a call, we can let you know.

What size chap do I need? - this link will take you to all the sizing information.  The size of the chap that you will need is based mainly upon the upper thigh measurement, not the hip measurement.  If you provide us with your hip measurement, we can fit any hip size on any size of chap by changing a backbelt.  You won't need to fit within the hip size range shown on the chart.

If you get a chance, check out our patented motorcycle gloves, our new leather Crotch Cover attachment, and our Custom Motorcycle chaps.
