Our farrier chaps are made from a 6 ounce apron split leather, this leather is often called "mulehide". We feel that the 6 ounce leather is the best weight for both durability and minimal bulk.
They are 29" in length and are designed to fit low on the waist. The nylon belt is adustable to fit almost any sized indiviual and attached with a nylon quick release buckle. The 29" length and leg patches are adequate to cover the wear area on the majority of farriers while leaving some leather below the knee. Although we could add extra length, it would only add to the cost of the apron without making the apron function better. We feel that this is the most cost efficient design without sacrificing function.
Each has a spring snap and dee ring closure for easy attachement.
We have both a "deluxe" and "standard" farrier chap. The "deluxe" farrier chap has large leg patches to cover the wear areas, steel rings for hanging the rasp, and loops for hanging nippers. It is also equipped with hoof knife pockets. Our "standard" farrier chap has the large leg patches and hoof knife pockets without the rasp rings and nipper loops. You will find our farrier chaps to be a durable product with good value.
We have added farrier chinks to our selection. They are our standard basic chinks with the addition of hoof knife pockets and leg patches. The offer the western chink look while also providing a durable farrier chap.
